The core of my business has changed. You may have noticed the content I share on social media has moved away from shopping and styling, towards conscious consumerism, minimalism and mindfulness in the home; with strong environmental undertones. This has indeed been a very deliberate decision on my part.
Since opening Interior Philosophy 2.5 years ago, my thinking around what it is to have a successful home has changed dramatically. My own ethos, priorities and vision has changed. I have changed. Now for the first time, my business is authentically aligning with my values.
Whilst I have always been and will remain an appreciator of beautiful spaces, the idea that we can only be happy when we have the newest, latest, hottest most ‘on trend’ thing has not sat with me well. That we are willing to sacrifice our financial freedom, the environment and people in order to have the latest most fashionable thing (often at rock bottom prices) quite frankly scares me. And I know I am not the only one.
So, as a designer with an environmental and ethical conscience, the question I have wrestled with for some time has been: “Can we have beautiful homes and spaces which speak to our personal sense of beauty whilst being conservative with our money, sensitive to the environment and mindful of the exploitation of people?”
The answer is YES! When we:
- Are prepared to have our current thinking and behaviour challenged
- Set clear intentions and goals for ourselves and/or family
- Become clear about our needs vs wants
- Learn to assess our homes objectively
- Where possible, re-use what we have and buy second hand with pride
- Find out about the source of the new products we want to purchase
- Shop local, shop handmade
- Reject mass produced, synthetic products wherever possible
- Buy less, buy better quality… and so much more.
Does that sound pretty cool, but also a bit daunting? Did it give you a little tingle though, like it feels right and exciting and filled with possibility?

1:1 Coaching Sessions
Think of me as a personal trainer for your home. We can all go work out at the gym on our own, but when we work with a personal trainer the results are always so much better. Why? Because your personal trainer is a specialist, a professional, an expert. They eat, sleep and drink fitness. They know when to challenge you and when to let you rest.
I am exactly the same, but I specialise the area of decluttering, minimalism, mindfulness and interior styling. I have read the books, listened to the podcasts, done the courses and joined the groups, so that you don’t have to. I am a member of the Australasian Association of Professional Organisers. I have worked with many clients from different walks of life, who absolutely loved the results. I know what works and what doesn’t, and with me as your personal coach, your results will be the very best they can be. We can work on ANY area of your home; or all of them. And with me, there is no judgement, just support. And a finish line! My goal is to teach and coach you so well, that you don’t need me anymore – that is a real win for me.
